Meet Raman Ayya, an 81-year-old man living alone in Kovalam, Chennai. Without a wife or the support of his son and daughter, he is struggling to survive each day on his own.
Despite his age and poor health, Raman Ayya continues to work to earn a living. He makes and sells traditional coconut-leaf brooms (thennai mattai thodappam) to people, earning just ₹30–₹40 a day. This small income is barely enough to meet his basic needs.
